New Generations Update...


INTERACT and ROTARACT Leadership Workshop - Sunday, October 30, 2 p.m.


This years Interact/Rotaract Leadership Training will take place on Sunday, October 30, 2010, 2:00 PM. We will begin with an 2:00 PM Registration with refreshments. The workshop will kick off at 2:20 pm and conclude by 5:00 pm. The location is the West Orlando Rotary Club Houselocated at 475 South Kirkman Rd., Orlando, FL 32811.


We would like to encourage representation from the leadership of your respective Interact and Rotaract Clubs. This would include any officers or committee chairs. We do not limit the number of students from each school attending if additional students are interested. In addition, Rotary Club Coordinators and School Sponsors are invited to join us.


Please distribute an invitation to your respective Interact/Rotaract Clubs through your Club Coordinators. Also, please ask that they provide a list of the names of attendees and or numbers to Sally Kamrada at  by October 20, 2011.




We welcome our ten incoming Rotary Youth Exchange students that arrived in our District  We will feature our Rotary Youth Exchange students later this Month in our NEW GENERATIONS NEWSLETTER.  We said Bon Voyage to our ten outbound Rotary Youth Exchange students who will spend the school year abroad. We are getting great reports on their adventures.   

RYLA Update:

All forms for RYLA coming up in  February are now available on the District website's download library.  Don't wait...start your RYLA sponsorship process now!!  The district has a December 20 deadline for all forms.

Interact, Rotaract, RYLA & Rotary Youth Exchange


125 RYLA delegates, sponsored by the clubs of District 6980, participated in last years Rotary Youth Leadership Awards weekend, Feb. 24-27 at the Altamonte Hilton, an all-time record! Congratulations to all the clubs in District 6980 for supporting this dynamic Rotary youth program and to the RYLA committee (chaired by Barbara Coggins) of dedicated Rotarians from all over the District, who each year give up so much of their time to make this such a special weekend for everyone.



Rotary Youth Exchange Update

District 6980 will be receiving ten (10) inbound Rotary Youth Exchange students from around the world next August for academic year 2011-12. Now is the time for the clubs to consider if they will commit to being a host club for one of inbound students.


Our Summer Exchange - Family to Family Program

This is the program that Governor Charlies  daughter took part in. We are taking applications for students of the age of 15 to 24 that want to spend a month in another country and be hosted by another family.  This is a one in - one out  direct family exchange for Rotarian and non-Rotary families.  This is our most popular exchange program.  The deadline is April 1st, Please tell a friend, co worker or neighbor about this opportunity.  For more information, contact Rotary Youth Exchange Chair, John Siegel (
